Channel Challenge for Mum

We suddenly and unexpectedly lost our beloved Mum, Emma, in October 2020. As we approach the four-year anniversary of her passing, Adam, Louise, Harriet, Zac, and others will be honouring her memory by taking on the Bude Sea Pool Channel Challenge on 28th September 2024. They will swim the equivalent of the English Channel -22 miles or 440 lengths - within the 91-metre long sea pool.

Bude holds deep significance for our family. It's where Mum was born, and where Adam and Louise spent countless summers, both as children and adults. It's a very special place to our our family, filled with cherished memories.

In Mum's honour, we want to raise money for the Aortic Centre Trust. Our goal is to increase awareness about aortic conditions, which too often go unnoticed until it is too late, and to provide support for those affected. Additionally, we hope to contribute to vital research that can lead to better treatment and prevention.

I was very touched to read about the loss of your beloved Mum, Emma. It is very tragic to lose someone so suddently, and to a condition that she was unaware of. My heart goes out to you all and I am more than willing to support such a worthy cause. As a 'Cornish Maiden' (born and brought up on the north coast near Rock) I am very familiar with the sea pool in Bude and wish I was able to join you.
