I’m raising money for the Aortic Centre Trust, a charity funding life-saving research and treatment for aortic disease.
We lost my Dad suddenly at just 60 years old. It was a shock that changed our family forever.
Because aortic aneurysms can run in families, we were all screened for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA). That screening saved lives. Both my Uncle Bob and my cousin John were found to have dangerous aneurysms and needed major surgery to prevent a rupture. Their operations lasted 6–8 hours and involved replacing the damaged part of the aorta with a graft.
Without early detection, the outcome could have been devastating.
The Aortic Centre Trust funds vital research, advanced equipment, and specialist surgical training to help diagnose and treat aortic conditions quickly and safely.
On 6th June, I’ll be walking 26 miles along the Jurassic Coastal Trail to raise funds for this incredible cause.
